Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 October 2026. Draft for legal review. Siment (NeeCustoms Ventures) handles personal data under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

What we collect

  • Account details: name, phone number, email, account type.
  • For listings: property details, photos, videos, fees, the landlord's Ghana Card number and photo, and proof of ownership.
  • For agents and companies: REAC licence number and business registration certificate.
  • Activity: enquiries, viewings and check-ins, agreements and signatures, ratings, reports, strikes and appeals.
  • Payments: what was paid and when. Card and mobile money details are handled by Paystack, not stored by Siment.

Why we use it

To run your account; to check that listings and landlords are genuine; to arrange viewings and tenancies; to keep the tenancy record, agreement and Rent Card; to send you notices by app and SMS; to prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Use; and to meet legal duties.

Who sees what

  • The public sees listings, a lister's name, ratings as a host, and whether a licence or company was checked.
  • Phone numbers are never public. They are shared only between a renter and host once a viewing is confirmed, and between a tenant and landlord on their Rent Card.
  • The exact address is shown only to renters with a confirmed viewing.
  • A renter's Renter Record is shown only to landlords and agents that renter has booked or enquired with.
  • Ghana Card photos, ownership documents and registration certificates are seen only by Siment staff who check them.

Companies that help us

Supabase (secure hosting and database), Paystack (payments), Arkesel (SMS) and Vercel (website hosting). They process data only to provide their service to Siment. Some of these services store data outside Ghana, with safeguards in place.

How long we keep it

Account data for as long as you have an account. Tenancy records, agreements, Rent Cards and payment records for as long as they may be needed as evidence or by law. Verification documents while the listing or company is active and for a limited time after, to prevent repeat fraud. Strikes expire after 180 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account. Some records, such as signed agreements, Rent Cards, payments and fraud records, may need to be kept even after you leave, because other people rely on them or the law requires it. Contact simentghana@gmail.com. You can also complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by role, sensitive documents are kept in private storage, and every important action is recorded.
